Out with the old and in with the new.

Interesting enough, I don't find this book to be a bore to read even with this particular chapter covering things I am pretty familiar with. This book is a great example of my introduction. You can get it in old medium — a book, but it also comes in the form of the new medium — online books. The online book differs from an ebook in that you don't have to down load it. 

What It Was, Is Now Online Shopping. During the pandemic costumers of our local quilt shop here in Sanford would drive up to the quilt shop to find that they could not go in to shop but had to order online and the items would be brought out to them. Most of these women would express their frustration and my daughter would patiently stand beside them through the process of online shopping using their phone. My daughter single handedly taught the little old ladies from the surrounding communities how to shop online. Was this a help to the elderly community or Pandora's box? Maybe we should do some statistics.

I really appreciated the section about text. I am not sure why this resonated with me, but it actually helped me see design in relation to text in a new light. Not sure how I could describe this but I am sure my thoughts will show up in later design works.

#Metadata friend or foe, I have been guilty once or twice of misusing this style of data. Like most things in life, it is a great tool unless it is abused.

#Netscape, apparently revolutionary according to something I was watching or reading a while back, however I remember it as an outdated search engine. Perspective is an interesting thing. #Mosaic. What was that? Archaic? From the Byzantine period you say? or maybe Etruscan?

#Applications, gone in an #Adobe Flash and slow #QuickTime. RIP the RIA's Java is here to stay. Not in this chapter but I thought it was funny.
