Fixed In Time

Jon Tyson This chapter fit perfectly with what you were saying in class about having extra material for your shots, whether B roll or graphic or text. Prof. Johnstone who was instrumental in helping me reach my full potential in photography, stressed file organization and have been pretty good at maintainging my files. This chapter has all so been inspirational to get out there and making short films..

What You See is What You Get

John Moeses Bauan Denise Jans I am glad to be reminded of the field of view and what shows up best within a tv screen. I enjoyed doing the filming and look forward to putting into practice more of what we learned and playing with the editing software. Reading about the sequencing makes me want to try a few things. I think I will find someone who needs a little job done an do the filming for practice. If I do get into video production I definitely want a drone. I was afraid to fly it at first, but the controller was amazing. The section on lighting made me think of the pictures I did for REVGEN. I tried to keep the feel for the place even though the photos looked darker then I would normally do, I just felt that when I lightened it that it changed what I was trying to capture. Love the scrims idea. Will have to play with that.

Lend an Ear

Pawel Czerwinski In reading about the molecules of sound I was reminded of you saying something in class to the effect of having to use all that we've learned in college. I love the note frequency diagram. I had not thought of microphones being design for separately for voice and instrument nor did I realized the electric guitar had a studio side and an everyday side.

Recording Studio

Impressed with Henry Nyquist figuring out that the bandwidth needed to be twice as much as the sample size. I remember when digital music came out its still strange sometimes to think of it that way. 1991 seems like yesterday, however that is when Quick Time came out and it seems antiquated. It seems like this chapter is repeating some information, which I helpful instead of annoying or boarding. Its odd how this book is a good read.

BAILEY MAHON   Will definitely want to go back over this chapter. Think my next camera will be an Olympus. They are extremely light weight.

Show Me

In my Art History class with Dr. Mulvaney I learn that   A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat was color dots to represent the picture. I could only imagine the amount of time it took. Awe, this is the chapter I was looking for in regard to screen resolution. I had not really thought of the resolution in regard to pix, but it makes since.

Fabio Santaniello Bruun This chapter was a good refresher. Will have to read about the moveable type before Gutenberg.

All About Being Perddy

Ilya Pavlov Oh, so experiencing the WYSIWYG problems on blogger with my pictures and text. Wow, we are up to HTML 5, probably a 6 is out since this book has been written. Wow, this chapter is interesting. I need to buy this book.  This chapter had an interesting perspective on URLs. I miss linking to a certain spot on a page. I haven't seen that option as much lately.

Make It Perddy

Alex Motoc Okay Haagen-Dazs augmented symphony on ice cream lids is genius. Do they still do this? How did I not know they did this? Will have to look more into this. My daughter, the pianist, use to have an email address of "iloveicecream".

Communication is Key

Dan Clear           Mark Zuckerberg needed to read this chapter.          Facebook book is a horrible design.  My little sister and I were just talking about this with her business. They hired software engineers to create their site, but it isn't friendly and I believe that in having an easy to use interface it would improve their business because convince is what they are paying for so convince is what they should get with the app. I realized the key problem was not having a graphic designer on board.  I need to contemplate the X and Y axis in relation to depth. Interesting. This chapter is an art theory refresher.

Get Organized

Firmbee.com I like that the book list the different job titles and what they do even though some are self explanatory. Research and planning are essential in reaching your audience/user base. The explanation of producer vs. executive producer was helpful.  The concept of wireframes is interesting although I am not sure why it is different from mock-ups which you do in InDesign because wireframes looks a lot like something you do in InDesign.

Vacuum Tubes to Intergrated Circuits

Minimizing computers for maximum use.  Nathan Dumlao The MIT brought us it's a small World Wide Web in the form of Time Shares. #Computer #TimeShare #TimeMagazine #Machine-of-the-Year. I loved reading the information about ASCII and Morris Code. Awesome. I knew that computers used binary code but never really looked into how the code formed letters and words. Very cool. Wow, one bit is equal to one binary.  The info about the processor was interesting as well as the part about the reason for a graphics card is to lighten the load one the CPU Reading about the GUI reminded me of a computer class I took in school. I remember the teacher asking a boy in class to add a picture to the computer. I remember asking how he planned on doing that and he said scanning it. Never heard of one of those before I, that was in 1993. I can't believe the book asked "Do I remember VCRs?" Now I know why BlueRay's were never a big thing. Why would the consumer care about all that extra...

Out with the old and in with the new. Interesting enough, I don't find this book to be a bore to read even with this particular chapter covering things I am pretty familiar with. This book is a great example of my introduction. You can get it in old medium — a book, but it also comes in the form of the new medium — online books. The online book differs from an ebook in that you don't have to down load it.  What It Was, Is Now Online Shopping. During the pandemic costumers of our local quilt shop here in Sanford would drive up to the quilt shop to find that they could not go in to shop but had to order online and the items would be brought out to them. Most of these women would express their frustration and my daughter would patiently stand beside them through the process of online shopping using their phone. My daughter single handedly taught the little old ladies from the surrounding communities how to shop online. Was this a help to the elderly community or Pandora's box?...
